The whole thing's tumbling down

On a bit of a tangent, my boyfriend now has an assistant. Since I work in that capacity in the same field right now (not for him, though), it makes me feel weird (read: "less than") when he mentions the fact that he's got one.

We're the same age, and we've known each other since high school, so we've always been on the same plane, but now it feels like he's got a direct, first-class ticket, while I'm sitting with the screaming babies on a connecting flight to hell. Not to mention the contentious gender issues. I know I shouldn't bring work into the bedroom, but until now, our relationship has always been equal.

Forget salary inequalities...what do you do when your partner is more important than you are?

Right now, my boyfriend is WAY more important than I am. He makes more than double what I do/year. He is 10 yrs. my senior, but even when he was my age, he already owned a house. I'm nowhere near being able to buy a house. I just go with, try and learn from what he's doing and enjoy what he can bring to the relationship. I cook more than he does, do more housework and am his sounding board. I'm always supportive of him. I just try not to let it frustrate me and to remember that everything happens for a reason, although sometimes it's hard to see. Also, use it as a tool to push yourself to succeed and be better. If nothing else, aim for a job that you ENJOY!! Good luck!

It definitely blows my mind when someone my age owns a house. Thanks for sharing your experience :)
